以鏡頭媒體──攝影和動態影像,探索觀塘人的日常空間實踐,以及觀塘核心地區的物事和景觀。這是我對觀塘(我的老家)劇變的一種詩意回應。觀塘的市區重建計劃(2007年至2021年)是香港規模最大、歷時最長的重建項目。超八電影在2006年至2009年拍攝;黑白菲林攝影則於2016至2019年間拍攝。
作品包括三個主題,確切地說,也是三個地理位置:街頭休憩公園、巴士總站和巷仔。在展場的裝置,超八影片挾在上下兩組照片之間;頂層的照片顯示觀塘市區現在的城市景觀/天際線的變化;下層的照片是觀塘日常活動與事物看似相類。透過層層感知/體驗/記憶,我們同時觀看靜態和動態影像,經驗不同的時間軸(觀看時間、拍攝時間及攝影與影片的十年之隔),尋找其中幽微的差異或/和相同、以及異同之間的模糊狀態,從而超越種種二元概念,諸如舊與新、過去與現在、個人與集體、模仿與真實、以至攝影與電影媒介。
It explores Kwun Tongers everyday-life spatial practices, as well as objects and landscape of the Kwun Tong Town Centre through lens-based media: photography and moving image. It is a poetic response to the changing community in Kwun Tong (my hometown) due to the urban renewal plan from 2007 to 2021, the largest in size and longest in time, ever in Hong Kong. Black and white film photography was shot in 2016 to 2019 and the super 8 film in 2006 to 2009.
There are three themes and geographical locations: Bus Station, Small Park, Alleys. At the set, super 8 film footage is at the Centre. While top layers of photographs show big differences in the changing cityscape/skyline after ten years; the bottom layer of ground objects and Kwun Tongers daily activities may look similar. Through multiple-layers of perception/experience/memories, we look for subtle difference or/and sameness and the ambiguity of both, between still and moving images, along time (of viewing, time of the shoot, and the ten-year time apart of shooting still and moving images), which go beyond dualistic concept of the old and the new, the past and the present, the personal and the collective, mimic and actuality, and photography and cinema.
